About this role

▸about a16z — company background

Founded in Silicon Valley in 2009 by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, Andreessen Horowitz (aka a16z) is a venture capital firm that backs bold entrepreneurs building the future through technology. We are stage agnostic. We invest in seed to venture to growth-stage technology companies, across AI, bio + healthcare, consumer, crypto, enterprise, fintech, games, and companies building toward American dynamism. a16z has $100B+ under management across multiple funds.

We’ve established a team that is defined by respect for the entrepreneur and the company-building process; we know what it’s like to be in the founder’s shoes. We’ve invested in companies like Accolade, BigHat Biosciences, Cedar, Devoted Health, EQRx, Freenome, Insitro, Omada Health, and PatientPing. Our team is at the forefront of new technology, helping founders and their companies impact and change the world.

The Role

The a16z Bio + Health Fund is seeking a Communications Partner to join our team. This individual will play a pivotal role in amplifying the stories of our portfolio companies and shaping narratives around late-stage technology and its impact on the world. You’ll build and execute creative, forward-looking campaigns that leverage earned media (traditional media, podcasts, newsletters and more) in addition to partnering with the broader marketing team to execute across content, social, and events.

This role is the best of both worlds for an experienced communications professional: you’ll have the ability to work with a world-class internal team while also helping to coach and execute the companies redefining the frontiers of medicine and healthcare.

This role will be located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

To join our team, you should be excited to:

Partner directly with our General Partners and investment team to define strategy and execute communications plans that drive their brand platforms forward while winning the attention and respect of leading founders and executives

Be a trusted advisor for dozens of portfolio companies. You will be the expert coach they’ll turn to for brand marketing, media strategy, crisis management, internal communications, and more
